I think making fun of something we perceive as bad can be a good thing, often I've found that it can be the beginning to cognitively reframing the perceived bad thing and can bring you around to finding good virtues about it.

That's a good point. I wrote about The Disaster Artist last week, and I think something like that may explain The Room's following. But so many times, especially online, I don't see it turn out that way (I would love to be wrong, though).

The online arena is a great example of perception and reframing things. Often things can be black and white and measured in extremes in opinion and reaction but to me that just lets the people who have the presence of mind to take a step back and think, "People actually behave in this way"? It really is one of the biggest ongoing jokes people have.
