I always thought that Casino Royale was the closest movie/book adaptation. The books are very much 'of their time' with some of the attitudes and you will notice that in Live & Let Die.
I noticed some unfortunate 1950s chauvinism in these books. I'm expecting that to be the worst aspect of the series.
I think it is in Thunderball, there are two pages dedicated as to why Bond thinks women are terrible drivers!
That is two pages too many.
