Why did you suggest skipping Savage She-Hulk? I agree it's not the current tone of the character but I think Stan's origin issue is worth reading and I think the series has a few good moments here and there after that.

I just found that to be an odd series that doesn't make a good first impression. Her time in the Avengers and Fantastic Four does a much better job of establishing her as a great character. But you are right that the first issue is worth reading -- I should have mentioned that one.

I agree, the series as a whole isn’t the strongest at all and doesn’t make a good first impression. For example, Jennifer Walters was written a little hapless for being a successful lawyer in my opinion.

That said, 70s Marvel could be so dumb and weird that I give them a lot a leeway. Take the ham fisted way they took her to the Everglades to meet Man-Thing. It was entirely dumb, yet they got an A for effort from me.

Looking forward to your next 80s list. It will be hard to narrow it down in the Shooter era.

"A for effort" sounds like a good way to describe it. It didn't work for me, but they certainly were trying to do something different.

And thanks! Yes, the 1981-85 list will be competitive indeed. Lots of great candidates to choose from.
