Loved the original Thunderbolts comic book story line. Such a great concept and a good selection of characters.

Oooh, interesting to hear that the themes of the original Thunderbolts comic can still be found here, even with an entirely new cast and origin!

I'm often amazed at what can seem so intrinsic to understanding the story to us as long time watchers (e.g.: previous movies of the MCU, in this case) can be mostly ignored by newcomers, if the current story is engaging and newcomer-friendly enough!

I knew someone who watched and enjoyed Endgame without having watched Infinity War and only having watched one or two of the solo MCU films before that!

So, I'm glad to hear that you and your father were able to enjoy the movie together! 😄

I had wondered how well Endgame would work without seeing Infinity War. Very interesting that it worked just fine for that person. I suppose it's like picking up a comic book mid-storyline, which I've done while still enjoying it.

I think it also helped that Endgame starts with a scene of Hawkeye/Clint's family getting TURNED INTO DUST! 😱

So, while I don't think that it'd work for every MCU movie, that scene certainly helped set the scene for the rest of the plot.

Though, yes, I think that a lot probably flew over their heads! 😆

Good point. That opener certainly does its job.

Does anyone else remember “Johnny Thunderbolt”?

Do you mean DC's Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt, or is that another character?

It was pretty flaccid. Better than Brave New World but nothing special. If F4 doesn’t improve on this then I’ll sit out this new phase altogether.

Fantastic Four may well end up being a final exam of sorts for the post-Endgame MCU. Ten to twelve years ago, an MCU FF movie would have been great. If they get it wrong now or it's merely okay, it could become a jumping-off point for many.
