I loved Batman Beyond. I get what you said about future heroes being less appealing. The same goes for me. Comics and shows like the 2099 lines just never hooked me. They seemed derivative or less than the original, even though they tried to make it unique. Batman Beyond hit me differently because it felt more like a continuation than an alternate universe.

The 2099 line was exactly what I had in mind when I said that. They might be fine books, but I never felt motivated to give them a real shot.

Yeah, it's just the Punisher and Spiderman, but with more pockets and grittier one-liners.

I was absolutely obsessed with this show and it always had the most hideous action figures. Incidentally, today I found the worst one.

I did a quick Google search, and I see what you mean: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124997273019

Did you catch the uncut version of *Return of the Joker*, or the cut one?

I watched whichever version is on HBO Max -- I think that's the uncut one, but I'm not positive.

If I recall correctly, the uncut version has the Joker saying things like "it's a killer", the cut one has "it's a doozy" ; also the uncut has the bit *spoiler* where the Joker's last line in the flashback is "That's not funny...*. In the cut version he backs up and is zapped to death accidentally offscreen.

That sounds like what I watched. Having that happen offscreen like that would not have been nearly as effective.
