Out of all the heroes, interesting that they picked a more recent hero like Spider-Man to go up against DC's classic super! Though they do share a lot of similarities. The crossover sounds highly entertaining.
I wonder if the companies would be open to doing a simple crossover nowadays. Superman, Batman, and Captain America will all fall into public domain in the 2030s, and I can't tell if that will make Marvel and DC more open to the possibilities or if they'll ignore it in an attempt to reinforce their claim on each character.
DC has been doing crossovers with other companies recently, though not with Marvel. DC and IDW put out at least three miniseries teaming up Batman and the Ninja Turtles. I read the first two, and they were a lot of fun. And IDW recently paired up the Ninja Turtles and Stranger Things (though I haven't read that).
The public domain thing will be tricky, because only the earliest iterations of those characters will become public at first while later versions and stories will still be fully protected. But I wouldn't be surprised if some fans started producing their own team-ups of the Golden Age versions when that happens.
